Omron – Trade Shows

The Challenge
When I arrived at Omron, the company’s trade show presence needed a complete rethink. The existing exhibits relied too heavily on dark brand colors, creating a dated and uninviting look. Beyond that, the layouts were overly crowded, making the spaces feel closed off and discouraging visitors from entering. I believed trade show booths should strike a balance: inviting enough to encourage people to wander in, and encompassing enough that once inside, attendees felt immersed in the brand.

The Approach
When I arrived at Omron, the company’s trade show presence needed a complete rethink. The existing exhibits relied too heavily on dark brand colors, creating a dated and uninviting look. Beyond that, the layouts were overly crowded, making the spaces feel closed off and discouraging visitors from entering. I believed trade show booths should strike a balance: inviting enough to encourage people to wander in, and encompassing enough that once inside, attendees felt immersed in the brand without feeling trapped.

In addition to the physical exhibits, I rethought Omron’s approach to trade show promotion. This included refreshed social graphics, a plan for consistent preshow promotion, welcome videos, live content during the event, and engaging recaps afterward. Over my four years with Omron, I continued to evolve the exhibits and event marketing, ensuring each new show felt fresh, modern, and strategically aligned with the brand.

The Execution

  • Directed the design and layout strategy for trade show exhibits, focusing on materials such as metallic finishes, concrete textures, light wood accents, and subtle Omron Blue to convey a modern and high-tech feel.
  • Opened up booth layouts to feel inviting yet encompassing, making it clear attendees were in Omron’s space without feeling closed off.
  • Oversaw graphics, interactive elements, and digital screens to create a more engaging and informative experience.
  • Developed preshow social graphics, welcome videos, live event content, and recap campaigns to extend engagement and reinforce the brand.
  • Coordinated event logistics, vendor relations, and ongoing updates to new exhibit iterations over a four-year period.

The Impact
The redesigned exhibits and refreshed promotional strategy significantly improved attendee engagement, created stronger impressions of Omron as a global leader in automation, and delivered more successful trade shows year after year.
